The purpose of my blog is to help provide information, resources and advise to future Marine Corps Officer Candidates, through my own experiences. Additionally, I aspire to help prepare and ultimately increase the percentage of female candidates to graduate from OCS. As well as, a fun and informative way to keep family and friends updated on my progression from civilian to Marine Corps Officer. That being said, anything I suggest should only be used as a guide or entertainment.
Firstly, I want to thank The Phoenix OSO office and Lts for their dedication and motivating weekly PT (physical training) sessions. Without these 6am PT sessions, I would not be in the condition I am today: 30 day pre-ship PFT: 292!
Secondly, I want to thank my fellow candidates. In the words of Lt. Malina, Ya'll are some "motivating motivators." I gain so much useful knowledge and insight from all of you; but most importantly, I gained great friends.
Finally, I want to thank my family, friends and boyfriend. It has been an awesome year of mooching! :) I know how blessed I am to have such a great financial, and mental support group. I thank God every day for the wonderful people and opportunities in my life.
Civilian to Marine Corps Officer
CIVILIAN TO MARINE CORPS OFFICER
I am "Paying it Forward." I have been blessed with dedicated and knowledgeable male and female marines. If I can help ONE marine be more prepared for OCS, then my blog has served its purpose.
---A special thanks to the Phoenix OSO office for the extra effort to bring in a female OCS graduate to pre-OCS. To get an idea, I have been training for nearly a year, and have only met ONE FEMALE LT, Lt. Howe. In preparing me physically, thanks to the Lts. who took the lead during PT, and to my fellow candidates who pushed me, ALWAYS! Last but not least, thanks to Lucero and Smith; words can't express the gratitude I have for both of you, girls.
